Jacqueline Wilson has published her 100th book – and it is brilliant. It tells about a girl living in the early 1900s. You might think the story will be about a boring posh life, as so many other books about life long ago, but its exactly the opposite. It is exciting and a bit romantic. Now that I’ve read it, I can review for you too.
Opal Plumstead is about a girl called Opal Plumstead (no surprise…) and she has a very upside-down life. As you go through the story, you find that Opal and her interests develop. She makes friends with a factory owner, Mrs Roberts, but has fights with the girls of her own age at the factory. It makes for exciting reading, but I’m not going to tell you more because I don’t want any complaints about spoilers.
I give this book 4-and-a-half stars out of 5. It is my favourite book written by my favourite author. I highly recommend it to people who like reading about the past (and who like a bit of romance!)
