The Swimming Gala in Richmond borough is a big deal. School teams have been preparing to do their best in the water at Pools in the Park. Barnes Primary School came with a strong team.
Swimming is good for exercising your body without stress, and is good for recovering from injury. But at the Swimming Gala, it’s not about plain exercise as in the regular swimming lessons, but about the adrenaline of a big event. The swimming teams that get to compete from the Richmond borough get chosen from each year group and from every class. The fastest from each class go through to the finals against other schools.
This year our school Barnes Primary won! However, the relay was incredibly tough and we only won by half a second. It was quite extraordinary to watch, regardless of whether you watched it live or on video. If you were in the crowd you would have heard the amazing atmosphere and on the last leg the Barnes Primary supporters went wild because we took the lead.
