As winter approaches, the NHS needs more money as more people get sick in the cold weather. With the extra money they are going to try to avoid another winter crisis like the one last year.
The Labour party has said that hospitals must be given an extra £500m bailout with the coming crisis. This isn’t actually a lot of money compared to all the money the NHS spends every year. Labour is expected to accuse Theresa May for ‘burying her head in sand and refused to give the money that the NHS that it needed to keep services running properly’, writes the Independent.
January this year was the worst month on the record for the NHS because in England 80,000 ill patients had to wait for over 12 hours and that is higher than the government’s target (4 hours). In January-March 2012, 15 patients had to wait for over 12 hours. Now in 2017, 1,597 patients have to wait over 12 hours.
Let’s see how this winter will go.
