They call each other names, and childish words are flying. But Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un have have enough power for their quarrels to have serious consequences.
Recently, North Korea has been making several nuclear bomb tests underground, and they have tested long range missiles. Some of the test missiles have flown over Japan (without nuclear weapons in them) and made the Japanese both angry and scared. The US president Donald Trump blames North Korea for trying to start a nuclear war that could turn into a World War III. But North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-Un says the same about Trump, who has threatened to “totally destroy” North Korea if they attack the US.
Normally, when countries quarrel with each other, the United Nations try to step in to help, or other big countries or negotiators can calm things down. But in the case of North Korea and the US, no one has found an opening for them to talk sensibly to each other. China is sitting on the fence because they used to be friends with North Korea (and are still perhaps), and Russia does not want to meddle. Right now Trump is on a tour in Asia where he visits China and other countries. Let’s see what comes out of it.
