The food chain Co-op is going to drop its best-by dates on the packaging and keep old foods in the aisles until somebody buys it.
Recently, Co-op announced that they will be dropping their best-by dates on many products and sell unpopular (or, unsold) foods for a long time. This will lower the huge waste of food that is currently a problem and help people save instead of throwing away. Bbest-by dates are often inaccurate – the food is actually good a lot longer than is printed on the label.
This might also let faster rottening foods stay on the aisle, worry some people. It will save co-op a lot of money but food quality could be lowered. Some foods will stay just fine with a bit more time if they are preserved well, though some foods don’t last that long. Will this been a success for Co-op, or will it be a recipe for disaster?
