Emma Dickinson and her mum write about last week’s year 6 five-day trip to PGL in Swindon.
It was great fun – we did climbing, abseiling, archery and loads of other amazing things. I did think about my mum and dad from time to time and wonder what they were doing. So my mum wrote a diary of the week:
Monday
I dropped Emma at school and felt very proud of her – she was responsible and independent and clearly very excited about her trip. The noise level was very high and I wished the teachers luck! It was interesting to see how much everyone had packed – I wondered if Emma would actually be able to carry her bag… Later that day, Fiona texted to say everyone had arrived and they were settling in. The best way to find out what was going on was to look at the pictures on twitter. I am still wondering what ‘ambush’ actually was…!
Tuesday
Our dog was very confused when Emma didn’t come down for breakfast. The house was too quiet. There was less washing to do. I missed Emma very much already! I set my phone for twitter alerts and was amazed at what year 6 was up to. I saw a picture of Emma doing archery and she looked very happy. Is there a camp like this for grown-ups?
Wednesday
I took the opportunity to tidy Emma’s bedroom – amazing! Today it looks as though Emma did some abseiling and a crate challenge. I wonder if she opened our letter?
Thursday
I think all the year 6 parents are really missing their children by now. We arrange to go to the pub to cheer ourselves up. I think about the last-night disco and hope everyone is having fun. One more sleep!
Friday
Big hugs at the school! So much to find out about. So much washing to do …
I was happy to get home too! Thank you to the teachers for letting us all go on such a great trip.
