According to scientists there is a risk of cancer if you eat browned toast. They recommend that you should eat slightly golden toast in order to reduce the risk of this deadly disease. Acrylamide is a chemical substance that is found in starchy food and during animal testing it was found that this is chemical increases the risk of cancer.
Five steps which could decrease the risk of cancer are:
- Cook chips to be a golden yellow colour. Go for gold!
- Don’t keep raw potatoes in the fridge.Store in a dark place instead.
- Follow the instructions on the packet.
- Keep healthy and eat your five a day.
Realising that toast can be dangerous for cancer can be a huge shock to the toast lovers that their beloved toast is a health risk. Of course the chance of cancer is very small and it is highly unlikely that you will get ill. There is always a risk and you can never be too careful. Scientists are saying that maybe you should only cook your toast to a slightly gold colour.
It could be a huge disappointment to cake lovers that cakes too carry acrylamide and there is a tiny risk that the disease of cancer can be transferred to you that way. As well as advising the public, scientists are trying to reduce the risk of acrylamide in processed food. This project is working to help the public stay safe from cancer disease.
Smoking is also full of acrylamide with 3/4 of it being acrylamide. A study has proven that people who don’t smoke have less of a risk of getting cancer. Is this addiction leading to a much worse illness?
Animal tests have linked acrylamide to cancer. Experts think that it could be dangerous for humans too. Animals are very like us and it could affect us.
