This week, Labour’s leader Ed Miliband was interviewed by Russel Brand. Russel Brand is a well-known comedian and political activist who used to say that voting is a bad idea because politicians “are all rubbish”. Recently, however, he changed his mind. After an interview with Miliband he is instead encouraging young people to vote for Labour. Anything, he says, to get Cameron out of Downing Street.
Many were surprised that Ed Miliband wanted to speak to such a controversial person as Russel Brand. Cameron even called the comedian “that clown”. But the interview, shown on Brand’s popular YouTube channel Trews, turned out to be a successful stunt by Miliband. Many young people subscribe to Brand’s channel and the interview reached a lot of people who usually don’t care much about politics.
