Space Camp Izmir is one of only three of its kind in the world. This year, the 4th grade students at MEFIS International School in Turkey went there on a visit. They had a lot of fun there and enjoyed it very much because they learned about space, the different planets and the International Space Station, and more.
The class got to try cool simulators that help astronauts train to go to space. For example: The zero gravity wall, which helps you to feel that you are on the moon and you float around, and the Multi Access Trainer (MAT), which spins around like crazy and does flips and turns. It is designed to not make you feel sick or dizzy! There are only 3 space camps in the world and those are in Quebec, Canada; Florida,USA and Izmir, Turkey. Our counselor was Mr. Lex. Some staff members are from other countries (for example Mr.Lex is from USA).
One thing space camp taught us about was Northern lights. The most important part of producing northern lights is the sun. It creates a wave that goes through the Earth’s atmosphere, which makes the Northern lights show different colours. Then it goes through the North Pole. It is an amazing sight!
You should really try to visit a space camp if you can because you can learn about the Northern lights and other aspects of science.
