Lemuria and Mu are two legendary (that means, probably not real) continents that came to the public's attention in the wake of renewed interest in the mythological city of Atlantis, said to have sunk to the bottom of the sea when the Greek gods thought the people living on the island had misbehaved.
As envisioned by the British zoologist Phillip Sclater (1829-1913), Lemuria was a piece of land that was once joined with Madagascar. Sclater had a scientific theory that was disapproved, and yet the views are divided: some people still think Lemuria and Mu is real but just very hard to find. Others think they are myths or legends like Atlantis (although some people believe Atlantis was a real place as well, somewhere close to southern Spain). Whatever theory one has, for now it remains a mystery.
