The race is always on. Car makers constantly try to beat each other to come up with the fastest car in the world. Right now, a small car maker has taken the lead.
The 278 mph Koenigsegg Agera RS is now the world’s fastest car. The small Swedish automaker’s Agera RS supercar has claimed the title of World’s Fastest Production Car at 277.9 mph. “Production” means a car you can actually buy, as opposed to one built in just one by one.
But it’s possible to go even faster than the Koenigsegg. A car broke the absolute world record a long time ago – in fact, it broke the sound barrier of 343 meter per second! The English car Thrust SSC, driven by a fighter jet pilot, holds the world land speed record, set already on 15 October 1997, when it achieved a speed of 1,228 km/h (763 mph) and became the first land vehicle to officially break the sound barrier. Another SSC car, the “Bloodhound” is working on beating the Thurst.
Wow! What fast cars.
