On Friday 13th of November in Paris, a number of terror attacks took place. One of them was in the district of République. Our Newsnugget reporter’s uncle was there, and it was a terrifying. This is what he said:
Here is what the witness, Sebastian Budgen, told our reporter:
When did you know that something bad had happened?
“We knew when our friend called us to tell us that another friend of ours was dead. Then we turned on the news and lots of different things were happening every time we looked.”
How did you feel?
“I felt shocked and a bit frightened because they were getting closer and closer to our flat.”
Why do you think the terrorists targeted Paris?
“They identify the French as aggressive (in the Middle East) and they try to provoke the civil war.”
Is the atmosphere still horrible in Paris?
“Yes, it is full of military and police and not many people out.”
Now people are worried all over Europe that they will have to experience the same thing as Mr Budgen – that their country will become the next target. “This was the most horrific thing that has happened since World War II,” said president François Hollande’s after the attacks.
