SpaceX, a private rocket company, has revealed that two normal citizens (who have not been named, but that we know are not astronauts) will make a flight into space in 2018. However, there will be no lunar landing, much to the disappointment of many of our Newsnuggets correspondents .
First, an unmanned craft will be sent into space this year as a test run before anyone goes up there in person. It has also been revealed that SpaceX would pay for it. SpaceX’ CEO Elon Musk (who also started the successful electric car company Tesla) claimed that the tourists “have already paid a significant deposit”.
A trip into space will always involve risks but these 2 people are prepared to take them. It is quite obvious that this will be a significant step forward in space exploration.
