When someone wants to change their gender it is called transgender. Around the world people who feel this way are being harassed. Currently, it is happening frequently in Malaysia. But also in the UK.
In Malaysia, when someone is transgender it is the job of the Religious Police to “deal with them” because transgender is not accepted there. Many transgender persons feel they are victims of the Religious Police; that they get treated unfairly.
A report from Unreported World on Channel 4 explained the life of a middle aged woman, who felt too afraid to leave her apartment for fear of being caught. When she had to go out to shop and buy things she restricted herself to a certain area. Several times she narrowly escaped, by hiding in unlocked cars.
Here in Britain transgender people are not treated as harshly as they would be in Malaysia, but there is an element of it, especially in schools. Children are often bullied for this kind of thing when they want to be a boy when they’re a girl, or vise versa. But the question is should the government do something about it?
