Several hurricanes and storms have damaged the US and the Caribbean badly this season. On the 17 August, Hurricane Harvey hit the US at an unexpected time of 9:40 am. The water in some places reached up to 50 inches and the wind up to 130 mph.
Sadly, 39 people died in these terrible winds, including a 3 year baby who was clinging on to her dead mother. “The biggest battle that we have right now” proclaimed Brock Long, the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
To help the victims of Hurricane Harvey people have started charities like the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund and the Houston Food Bank so that people can donate food for the people in need. Fortunately, Donald Trump donated some money for food on behalf of the government and visited the people in need, as presidents usually do. “It’s been really nice”, said Donald Trump (although it is unclear what is nice about this disaster). It is said that the damage costs will be around 180 billion dollars, and it will take a long time to rebuild people’s houses and lives.
